Qasr al-Bint Temple, Petra, Jordan
Qasr al-Bint Temple, Petra, Jordan — The only free-standing stone structure in Petra (as opposed to rock-carved monuments), this temple was the principal religious sanctuary of the Nabataean city, likely dedicated to the chief god Dushara or the goddess Al-Uzza. Its walls still stand up to 23 meters high, testament to Nabataean masonry skill. © Palimpsestlover, CC BY-SA 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons
