Karnak Sacred Lake, Karnak, Luxor, Egypt
Karnak Sacred Lake, Karnak, Luxor, Egypt — The rectangular sacred lake 120 meters long was used for ritual purification of priests and ceremonial navigation of sacred barques carrying the statue of Amun. A giant granite scarab beetle on its shore is said to grant wishes if you walk around it seven times — a local tradition that draws tourists today. © Dennis G.
