The wooden stage juts from the main hall over a forested cliff with panoramic views across Kyoto. The entire structure was built without a single nail — 139 interlocking zelkova pillars. Below it, a sacred waterfall splits into three channels said to grant longevity, success in studies, and fortunate love.
