Temple of Domitian, Ephesus, Turkey — The first imperial cult temple in the province of Asia was built to worship Emperor Domitian, making Ephesus a 'neokoros' (temple warden) city with special religious and commercial privileges. After Domitian's assassination and damnatio memoriae (erasure of his name), the temple was rededicated to his father Vespasian.
