Temple of Kukulcan Interior Pyramid, Chichen Itza, Mexico — Archaeologists discovered a smaller, earlier pyramid inside El Castillo that itself contains a jaguar throne painted red and encrusted with jade spots. A third innermost structure has been recently identified using muon tomography, suggesting Chichen Itza was built in at least three superimposed phases.
