Chac Mool, Chichen Itza, c. 1000 AD — the reclining figure holds a dish on its stomach believed to have received ritual offerings, possibly including human hearts. Chac Mool sculptures appear throughout Mesoamerica, but the finest examples were found at Chichen Itza.
