The pagoda was build by King Narapatisithu in the 12th century. The Dhammayazika temple is a brick pentagonal structure surrounded by five smaller shrines. The stupa is topped by a large, impressive bell-shaped dome.
The Dhammayazika Pagoda is architecturally unique on the entire plain: pentagonal, with five surrounding shrines, departing from the square and circular plans used everywhere else. Built by the same king who built Sulamani. He clearly wasn't constrained by convention. © Vyacheslav Argenberg, CC BY 4.0, via Wikimedia Commons
