The Ananda Temple, completed around 1105 AD, is the one I'd call the masterpiece of the site. The gilded spire rises 51 meters; inside, four standing Buddhas face the cardinal directions — each nearly 10 meters tall. The mortar joints are so fine they're invisible. From the 12th century.
