Taj Mahal Calligraphy, Agra, India — Quranic verses in black marble inlay surround the entrance arch and inner chamber of the Taj, the work of the master calligrapher Amanat Khan. The letter sizes increase subtly toward the top of the arch so that from ground level they appear uniform — a refined optical correction reflecting the highest standards of Islamic art.
