Ephesus Harbor Monument (Pollio Fountain), Ephesus, Turkey — This monumental nymphaeum (fountain) at the intersection of Curetes Street and the colonnaded street was dedicated by the proconsul Sextillius Pollio. Its sculptural group included a large statue of Polyphemus the Cyclops from the Odyssey, the choice of subject reflecting Ephesian patrons' sophisticated Classical literary taste.
