Stonehenge Trilithon Circle, Wiltshire, England — The five massive sarsen trilithons (two upright stones capped by a lintel) arranged in a horseshoe at Stonehenge's center are the monument's most dramatic elements. The tallest upright stands 7 meters above ground with another 2 meters buried below, and the stones are joined with mortise-and-tenon joints borrowed from timber construction tradition.
