Library of Celsus, Ephesus, Turkey — Built as a mausoleum for governor Tiberius Julius Celsus by his son, this two-story facade held approximately 12,000 scrolls, making it antiquity's third-largest library. The four statues in the facade niches represent Sophia (Wisdom), Episteme (Knowledge), Ennoia (Intelligence), and Arete (Virtue).
