Taj Mahal Interior Cenotaphs, Agra, India — The ornate marble screens surrounding the cenotaphs of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan are carved with such delicacy they resemble lace. The actual graves lie in a plainer underground crypt below, following Islamic tradition that the deceased should rest in simple proximity to the earth.
