Residential Quarters, Machu Picchu — rows of two-story granite houses with thatched roofs, sleeping niches, and individual stone pegs for hanging objects. The buildings were allocated by status: nobles lived nearest the temples, artisans and farmers toward the outer edges of the urban sector.
