Agricultural Terraces, Machu Picchu — hundreds of terraces cascading down the steep mountainside, irrigated by channels engineered to distribute water from natural springs. They prevented erosion, created microclimates for growing crops at altitude, and displayed Inca mastery of Andean landscape.
