Avenue of Sphinxes, Luxor, Egypt, c. 1400 BC, reopened 2021 — The 3-kilometer processional avenue of ram-headed sphinxes (criosphinxes) linking Karnak and Luxor Temples was ceremonially reopened in November 2021 after decades of archaeological work. During the Opet festival, the statue of Amun traveled this route by sacred barque amid huge public celebrations.
