Valley of the Kings, Luxor West Bank, Egypt — The royal necropolis of Egypt's New Kingdom pharaohs contains 63 known tombs cut into the limestone cliffs, their walls covered in religious texts and scenes of the afterlife journey. The valley was chosen partly because the pyramidal peak of Al-Qurn (the Horn) naturally resembles a pyramid above it.
