Grand Bazaar, Istanbul, Turkey — Established by Mehmed II immediately after the Ottoman conquest, the Grand Bazaar is one of the world's oldest covered markets, with 61 covered streets and over 4,000 shops at its historic peak. Its vaulted stone corridors once channeled the commerce of an empire that spanned three continents.
