Acropolis Museum, Athens — opened in 2009 directly below the Parthenon, with its top floor aligned precisely with the temple above. Built on a glass floor over an excavated ancient neighborhood, it houses the surviving Parthenon sculptures and makes a quiet, sustained argument for the return of the Elgin Marbles from London.
