Ta Prohm Temple, Angkor, Cambodia — Built by Jayavarman VII as a Buddhist monastery, this temple was famously left partially unrestored, with massive silk-cotton and strangler fig trees growing through its walls and galleries. It illustrates the power of the jungle that swallowed much of Angkor after the empire's decline.
