Tower of Comares (Throne Room), Alhambra, Granada, Spain — The 45-meter tower containing the Throne Room was built by Yusuf I as the most imposing structure of the palace. Its cedar wood ceiling is a cosmological diagram of the seven heavens of Islamic paradise, consisting of 8,017 interlocking pieces arranged in a stellate pattern.
