Court of the Lions (Patio de los Leones), Alhambra, Granada, Spain — Muhammad V built this courtyard with its famous fountain of 12 marble lions at the center of four water channels representing the rivers of paradise. The surrounding arcade of 124 slender marble columns supports plasterwork so delicate it appears carved from ivory foam.
